Michael Xie, specialist/auctioneer, Chinese Paintings Department said:
Our strong results reflected the high quality and reasonable estimatesof the property, which was enthusiastically sought by experts and collectorsalike.Paintings from overseas collectionswithimpeccableprovenanceand competitive pricingperformed especially well. Given the enthusiasm of the Chinese market, we had expected and are pleased to achieve positive results. Prices went over the estimate in many instances, andthe sale recorded a strong81% sold by lot."

    Paul Dong, General Manager, said:
"We are delighted by the results in both sale categories. Having one of the biggest turnouts in several years represents strong interest among a larger group of art lovers and collectors, many of whom were first-time auction participants. While the art market may be embraced as an investment opportunity, we believethere is also an increasingly solid baseof connoisseurs who go for fine collectibles."
